Staff Data Scientist, Data & Audience Platform Team

About the role

Growth Engineering team at Max builds data products to boost subscriber engagement and retention. The Staff Data Scientist designs and implements end‑to‑end machine learning systems, leads scalable production solutions, and mentors applied scientists and ML engineers. Hybrid role based in Hyderabad, India, with opportunities to publish research and influence AI‑assisted tooling across the organization.

What you’ll do

• Research, design and build high‑impact ML systems for customer growth
• Design scalable ML solutions for production deployment
• Coordinate applied scientists and ML engineers, providing guidance and mentorship
• Mentor junior Machine Learning Engineers and promote best practices
• Contribute to research community via blogs, articles or conference papers
• Standardize AI‑assisted tools to improve team productivity and code quality
• Drive cross‑team technical decisions and manage stakeholder expectations
• Advocate technical solutions to scientists, engineers and product audiences

What you’ll bring

• M.S. or B.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science or related field
• 9+ years building ML and personalization products
• Deep understanding of statistics and ML fundamentals
• Proficiency with TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, Scikit‑learn
• Production experience with ML pipelines in Python, Java, Scala or similar
• Expertise in recommendations, causal ML, interpretable ML, bandits, RL, optimization
• Proven leadership and cross‑functional coordination
• Excellent written and verbal communication
