Sr Data Engineer

About the role

GlobalFoundries is a leading semiconductor foundry integrating manufacturing and engineering data across multiple fabs. The Data Solutions Group builds secure, scalable data pipelines and analytics platforms, ensuring data quality and optimizing performance. The Sr Data Engineer leads cross‑functional projects, designs data warehouse artifacts, and mentors junior engineers while maintaining documentation and access controls.

What you’ll do

• Lead cross-functional projects, act as SME
• Build secure, scalable data pipelines, manage analytics platforms
• Consult on data pipeline standards, frameworks
• Guide junior data engineers, support operations
• Assess access control, report data asset security
• Document best practices, technical documentation

What you’ll bring

• Design data warehouse artifacts, define standards, build frameworks, map source-target
• Strong analytical, logical/physical schema design, database tech expertise
• Proficient SQL, PySpark, AWS EMR, Redshift/Postgres, Databricks, Snowflake, Ab Initio
• Experience large high-volume database projects, performance tuning, root cause analysis
• Programming in Python, Java, documentation of problems and resolutions

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in IT, Electrical Engineering or related field
• 10+ years experience in data warehouse design, performance tuning, optimization
• Strong knowledge of data warehouse architecture, dimensional modeling, ERD design
• Experience building streaming apps with Spark Streaming, Flink, Storm
• Excellent documentation of complex data flows, SDLC familiarity
