Senior Machine Learning Engineer

About the role

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer at TraceGains (a Veralto company) reports to the Head of Artificial Intelligence and owns the end-to-end lifecycle of ML and AI systems in the Food and Beverage science domain. Day-to-day work includes designing datasets, evaluation criteria, and test cases; measuring and monitoring cost, performance, and accuracy; leading independent experimentation and code design; collaborating across engineering, product, and sales; and applying modern agentic coding paradigms. This full-time role is based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.

What you’ll do

• Designing datasets, evaluation criteria, and test cases for AI systems.
• Measuring and monitoring the cost, performance, and accuracy of AI systems.
• Leading independent experimentation design and code design around ML systems.
• Working across multiple teams, including engineering, product, and sales, without always having explicit instruction from leadership.
• Working with modern agentic coding paradigms to accelerate general software engineering and helping to educate others in these best practices.
• Working closely with AI product teams to understand how best to deliver a great customer experience in the design of AI deliverables.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering, data engineering, AI/ML engineering, or related experience, with demonstrated ability to ship production-grade systems across the product lifecycle.
• Experience building production services, data pipelines, and integrations in Python, with ideally additional experience in C#.
• Production-grade experience with knowledge graphs, graph databases, semantic modeling, ontology concepts, or relationship-based data representations.
• Ability to design and interpret evaluation metrics for AI and ML systems, including model quality, retrieval quality, search relevance, classification performance, latency, cost, reliability, and user
• 2+ years experience working with Azure cloud platform (preferred), or AWS/GCP alternatively.
