About the role

The Manager - Manufacturing Engineering role sits within ZF's Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) division in Chennai, India, supporting the mission to be the preferred global technology partner for the commercial vehicle industry. Day-to-day work includes developing detailed PFDs, PFMEA, and Control Plans; leading capacity enhancement, de-bottlenecking, and re-engineering; establishing lean equipment specifications and work standards; and overseeing equipment/workstation design, construction, and acceptance. The role also drives new product productionising, material handling and internal logistics standards, and Smart Factory/digitalization initiatives.

What you’ll do

  • Develop detailed PFD (Process Flow Diagram), PFMEA, Control Plan, and capacity enhancement plans; couple/decouple operations for maximum value addition
  • Establish pneumatic and electrical circuits for end offline and define lean equipment specifications
  • Manage SHE, capability, cycle time, labour, and TPM; follow up on design and construction of equipment/workstations and perform pre and final acceptance based on ergonomics, Cmk, and cycle time
  • Develop methods analysis techniques and standards; establish work standards for new and current products as part of productivity improvement
  • Identify wastes in manufacturing processes and define ergonomic standards in manufacturing equipment
  • Define and maintain material handling standards for in-house processes

What you’ll bring

  • BE in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years in industrial engineering or production engineering function
  • At least 3 years in assembly process planning and establishment of standards
  • Hands-on experience in assembly process planning engineering and new product productionising
  • Experience in capacity enhancement, de-bottlenecking, re-engineering, and low cost automation
  • Familiarity with design and implementation of material handling and internal logistics
  • Knowledge of PLC and other automation elements selection
  • Implementation knowledge of Smart Factory initiatives including digitalization of plant layouts and flow simulation

Nice to have

Post-graduation in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering disciplines
