About the role
Thermo Fisher Scientific is hiring an Engineer II Field Service-LC in Bengaluru, India, to deliver on-site field service and technical support for HPLC/UHPLC systems. Day-to-day work includes installing, commissioning, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting qualification activities for analytical instruments at customer sites, while ensuring high uptime and customer satisfaction. The role follows a standard Monday–Friday schedule, is based on-site, and requires extensive travel within the assigned territory.
What you’ll do
- Install, commission, maintain, and repair HPLC/UHPLC systems at customer sites.
- Perform preventive maintenance and systematic troubleshooting of instrument hardware and performance issues.
- Diagnose problems related to pumps, autosamplers, injectors, detectors, fluidics, electronics, and system communication.
- Perform instrument performance verification and support IQ/OQ/qualification activities as applicable.
- Respond to customer service calls and ensure timely resolution with minimum instrument downtime.
- Provide customers with technical guidance on instrument operation, routine maintenance, and good HPLC practices.
- Complete service reports and other required documentation accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with technical support, applications, sales, and other internal teams for complex customer requirements.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- 3–6 years of hands-on field service experience with HPLC/UHPLC or similar analytical instrumentation.
- Good understanding of HPLC principles, fluidics, electronics, and instrument troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently handle field service calls and technical escalations.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Customer-focused with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good documentation and time-management skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting customers in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, CRO, QC, or analytical laboratories.
- Working knowledge of chromatography software/CDS and regulated laboratory environments.
