Sr Engineer / Lead Engineer - Digitize Paint ME

About the role

General Motors seeks a Sr/Lead Engineer to lead digital transformation in automotive paint manufacturing within the Digitize Paint ME team. The role involves deploying AI/ML, Digital Twins, and XR solutions to enhance process efficiency and quality while establishing end-to-end digital threads across engineering systems. This hybrid position is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

What you’ll do

  • Lead digital transformation initiatives by implementing Digital Manufacturing and Smart Factory solutions
  • Deploy AI/ML, Computer Vision, XR, and Advanced Analytics to improve FTQ, equipment reliability, and process efficiency
  • Develop and sustain Digital Twins for paint shop products, processes, and equipment with end-to-end digital thread integration
  • Design and validate vision systems for defect detection, color consistency, sealer quality, and coating coverage
  • Configure AI agents and automation workflows by integrating enterprise data, engineering tools, and knowledge repositories
  • Automate CAD/PLM solutions using APIs, macros, templates, and rule-based engineering tools
  • Develop CAD-to-XR pipelines to support virtual reviews, training, manufacturing validation, and collaboration
  • Support paint facility execution, virtual commissioning, and launch activities for greenfield and brownfield projects

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Paint Engineering (or related field with AI/Data Science certification)
  • 5+ years of experience in Digital Transformation, Digital Twin/Digital Thread, Industrial Automation, XR, and Vision Systems
  • Proven experience developing and deploying AI/ML, Smart Factory, Advanced Analytics, Computer Vision, and Digital Twin solutions
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, C++, APIs, data pipelines, and AI-agent workflow development

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with Digital Twin, XR, and industrial metaverse platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Omniverse, Siemens Xcelerator)
  • Knowledge of AI/ML technologies including LLMs, RAG, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Databricks
  • Working knowledge of CAD automation platforms and APIs (AutoCAD, NX Open, CATIA CAA, SolidWorks API)
  • Familiarity with industrial robotics and simulation tools such as FANUC, Dürr systems, ROS 2, Isaac Sim, and DDS
