Senior Database Administrator

About the role

Platform Engineering team at Cendyn seeks a Senior Database Administrator to lead design, reliability, and modernization of a multi-engine production database fleet. The role drives multi-engine modernization, cloud migrations, and DBA practice standards while mentoring junior DBAs and handling senior escalation incidents. Hybrid work in Hyderabad with at least two days onsite, supporting overlap with US teams.

What you’ll do

• Lead operation of multi-engine database fleet across Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
• Design and evolve database architecture including HA, replication, sharding, multi-region replicas
• Drive modernization projects: engine upgrades, on-prem to cloud migrations, consolidation
• Set and enforce DBA standards, naming conventions, backup/restore SLAs
• Act as senior escalation point, lead incident response and post-mortem reviews
• Mentor junior DBAs through paired sessions, design reviews, runbook authoring
• Own disaster recovery program with RPO/RTO and DR drills
• Ensure compliance with PII, PCI, encryption, audit logging

What you’ll bring

• 8+ years database administration experience
• Proficiency with Oracle (8+ years)
• Proficiency with MySQL/MariaDB (5+ years)
• Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL or MongoDB
• Experience with cloud-managed databases (Aurora, RDS, Azure SQL, CloudSQL)
• Expertise in SQL query optimization and performance tuning
• Track record of leading multi-engine modernization initiatives
• Mentoring and developing DBA teams
