About the role

Google Cloud's AI Research team seeks a Staff ML Compiler Engineer in Bengaluru to drive TPU performance optimizations. The role involves designing advanced compiler optimizations and debugging the ML software stack to maximize efficiency for internal and external customers. This is an on-site position requiring deep expertise in compilers and computer architecture.

What you’ll do

Design and implement advanced compiler optimizations such as pipelining, prefetching, and fusions
Research and develop novel compiler optimizations targeting ML workloads and emerging architectures
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through insightful performance debugging
Provide technical leadership and mentorship as a Team Lead

What you’ll bring

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
8 years of experience in software development
3 years of experience with software design and architecture
Experience with machine learning, compilers, computer architecture, GPU programming, C++, Python

Nice to have

Experience in open-source software development
Experience with ML compilers and their internals
Experience writing compiler optimization passes
Experience with GPU or TPU performance analysis
