Engineering Manager

About the role

TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES LTD. seeks an Engineering Manager in Chennai to lead and mentor software development teams within the TECHNOLOGY department. The role drives end-to-end software delivery, defines technical strategy and architecture direction, and establishes engineering best practices. Day-to-day work includes managing project plans, resources, risks, and timelines, collaborating with Product Managers, Architects, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders, and supporting cloud transformation, digital modernization, and DevOps adoption.

What you’ll do

• Lead and mentor software development teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Drive end-to-end software delivery from requirements gathering through deployment and support
• Define technical strategy, architecture direction, and engineering best practices
• Manage project plans, resource allocation, risks, timelines, and delivery commitments
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, QA, DevOps, and Business Stakeholders
• Establish coding standards, quality processes, and performance metrics
• Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and technical governance activities
• Manage team performance, career development, hiring, and succession planning

What you’ll bring

• 12 - 14 years of experience
• Proficiency in Java
• Java Architecture expertise
• Experience leading and mentoring software development teams
• Ability to drive end-to-end software delivery from requirements to deployment and support
• Experience defining technical strategy, architecture direction, and engineering best practices
• Experience managing project plans, resource allocation, risks, timelines, and delivery commitments
• Experience collaborating with Product Managers, Architects, QA, DevOps, and Business Stakeholders
