Principal Engineer, Digital Innovation

About the role

Celanese, a Fortune 500 global chemical innovation company headquartered in Dallas, TX, is seeking a Principal Engineer, Digital Innovation to support its Celanese Digitalization effort. Based in Hyderabad, IN, the role focuses on full-stack development—building React/Next user interface components, implementing Node.js server-side logic, and integrating data storage solutions like Azure SQL and Snowflake. The engineer will coordinate across infrastructure layers to deliver robust, secure, and high-performance applications while translating business requirements into technical solutions.

What you’ll do

• Translating designs and wireframes into high quality code
• Optimizing components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers
• Building reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
• Developing new user-facing features using React
• Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic
• Integration of data storage solutions (Azure SQL, Snowflake, etc.)
• Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications
• Implementation of security and data protection

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another quantitative field
• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and implementing Node.js applications and solutions
• Proficiency in Node.js, React, Next, SQL Database, and Azure Cloud
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model
• Thorough understanding of React and its core principles, including popular React workflows (e.g., Flux or Redux)
• Understanding of Azure Cloud FunctionApps is a must
• Proficient knowledge in CI/CD and code versioning tools such as Azure DevOps
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements

Nice to have

• Knowledge of isomorphic React is a plus
• Experience with data structure libraries (e.g., Immutable.js)
• Familiarity with event-driven programming in Python
• Knowledge of writing APIs and experience with several languages like JavaScript
• ElasticSearch experience is a plus
• Experience with a B2B business especially in specialty chemicals, oil & gas or manufacturing
