About the role
Hapag-Lloyd seeks a Manager - Area Operations in Mumbai to lead India's terminal and inland operations, driving data ownership and strategic decision-making. The role focuses on cost analysis, stakeholder management with authorities, and team leadership to optimize port KPIs. This is an on-site position based in Mumbai, India.
What you’ll do
- Lead departmental decisions and drive impactful interventions in Area India operations
- Perform cost analysis and enable internal negotiations for cost reduction
- Manage external stakeholder relations with CSLA, Customs, Port authorities, and suppliers
- Drive workstreams for Inland operations and Equipment aligned with long-term strategy
- Own operational data and analytics to drive Port operation KPIs of scheduled reliability
- Create an inspiring team environment and set clear individual KPI goals
- Motivate and lead the team to achieve efficient and timely delivery
- Plan developmental paths and conduct project kick-offs and creative reviews
What you’ll bring
- University degree or equivalent
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in a commercial role
- Experience preferably in the maritime sector
- Excellent communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of FIS and other HL systems
- Working knowledge of MS Office
