About the role
Integration, Verification & Testing (IVT) team at Nokia validates high‑performance switching, routing and broadband access technologies. The Applied R&D Engineer develops and maintains automation scripts, creates test strategies, and performs functional, performance and interoperability testing of Layer 2/3 protocols and GPON/XGS‑PON solutions. Based in India, on‑site work model with occasional travel to test labs.
What you’ll do
- Contribute to feature testing of Layer 2/3 forwarding protocols to validate end‑to‑end service behavior
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for regression, feature and performance testing
- Create test strategies and test plans and participate in verification of switching and routing functionalities
- Collaborate with software teams to ensure thorough validation of customer‑specific network use cases
- Perform functional, performance, stability and interoperability testing across deployment scenarios
- Provide detailed defect reports with logs, traces and reproduction steps
What you’ll bring
- Graduate or Master's in engineering
- 4-7 years experience in test and analysis of high‑performance switching and routing software
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (GPON/XGS‑PON, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, NAT, VPN, Multicast, TR‑069)
- Hands‑on testing of routers, gateways or APs
- Proficiency in automation scripting with Python
- Experience with test frameworks such as Robot Framework or PyTest
- Familiarity with network debugging tools (Wireshark, iPerf, packet capture)
- Experience with Linux/Unix debugging environments
