Senior Software Engineer, Quality & Automation

About the role

Nike’s Global Technology - Geographies And Marketplace Experiences Organization seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Quality & Automation to lead quality assurance strategies and automation frameworks for Shared Platforms Services. You will design, build, and sustain scalable automated test ecosystems for cloud-native microservices, integrate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines, and leverage GenAI capabilities to accelerate test generation and defect detection. Based in Karnataka, India, you will work within a full DevOps model alongside distributed, multi-discipline engineering teams to ensure product integrity and availability at scale.

What you’ll do

• Define and drive quality strategy for Shared Platforms Services, with a focus on automation and scalability
• Build and maintain automated test frameworks for functional, regression, integration, performance, security, and API testing
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design, develop, and deploy robust test suites for the digital asset management system and related services
• Partner with developers to enable testability by design, perform thorough code reviews focused on quality, and mentor engineers on quality best practices
• Ensure quality of the code and products throughout the entire development lifecycle (DevOps) by integrating quality gates into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Leverage GenAI powered capabilities (RAG, prompt driven workflows, MCP and spec driven architectures) to accelerate test generation, defect detection, and intelligent test design
• Implement and continuously improve performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, usability, and availability testing across services
• Implement strong observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting, to identify quality risks early

What you’ll bring

• Minimum 7+ years of experience in software quality engineering, test automation, or software development with a strong focus on quality
• Experience working in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment
• Experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e.g., AWS Services, GCE, Azure)
• Experience in microservice architecture, domain-driven design, and RESTful Services using Java and Spring Boot, with ability to test at API level and integrate with unit test frameworks
• Independently drive end-to-end quality assurance and test automation project execution, owning design, development, cross-team coordination, and delivery
• Demonstrate an AI-first mindset, actively leveraging AI-powered developer and test tools (e.g., Cursor) to accelerate development, test creation, execution, and learning
• Experience in Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) with JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, Playwright, Selenium, TestNG or similar tools
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other relevant subject area, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

• Experience delivering Generative AI–based solutions or projects
• Experience in designing and implementing highly scalable automated test frameworks and web applications
• Exposure to eCommerce and Supply Chain domain areas like order management, fulfilment, and warehouse management – especially quality aspects therein
• Experience as a Full Stack Developer or familiarity with front-end applications (React, Angular) enabling end-to-end quality coverage
• Experience in performance and security testing tools like JMeter, Gatling, OWASP ZAP etc.
