Sr Java Developer

About the role

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Sr Java Developer within its Technology, Digital and Data career area to help drive ongoing development of cloud-based technology projects. The role involves providing technical delivery of cloud software development capabilities, including analytics and infrastructure, and applying Java, J2EE, and related technologies to design, develop, and unit test web-based or desktop applications. Based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, this full-time position requires extensive experience applying Java, cloud, and mobile or web application technologies.

What you’ll do

• Provide technical delivery of Cloud software development capabilities, including analytics and infrastructure
• Apply and integrate technologies such as Java, J2EE, AJAX, Web Services to conceptualize, design, and develop and unit test web-based (or) desktop applications
• Leverage Java development expertise and an understanding of Cloud technologies to assist with developing overall Cloud transition strategy, to identify opportunities for future growth, and to introduc
• Work with the Leads to create product plans, resource and scope estimates and feature technical specifications

What you’ll bring

• Strong experience in JAVA and J2EE technologies with AWS/Azure Cloud based environment
• Expert knowledge in JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, SQL, Spring, JUnit and JSON, REST/JSON web services
• Strong knowledge in Java Design Patterns
• Development and implementation of features in any Cloud platform products and technologies
• Strong Object-Oriented design skills and understanding of MVC
• Sufficient experience with Git to organize a large software project with multiple developers to include branching, tagging and merging
• In-depth knowledge of at least one high-level programming language
• Experience developing applications with Agile team methodologies preferred
