About the role
Jefferies’ Equities Technology team is building a Technology Innovation Hub in Pune, India, to engineer the real-time trading and risk platforms that power global capital markets, investment banking, and institutional securities. As an Associate - Java Developer within the Securities Finance technology group, you will design, develop, enhance, and support strategic trading and servicing systems, collaborating with cross-regional teams in Hong Kong, London, and New York. The role focuses on scalable, resilient Java and Spring-based services, distributed systems, and production support within a 24x7 follow-the-sun model.
What you’ll do
- Develop and enhance applications and services using Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot preferred).
- Design, build, test, deploy, and support core Securities Finance components with a focus on scalability, performance, and resilience.
- Contribute to building distributed systems and enterprise-grade services (APIs, messaging, batch/stream processing as applicable).
- Work with global teams to deliver features, fixes, and platform improvements across time zones.
- Participate in code reviews, unit/integration testing, and release activities.
- Diagnose production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.
- Continuously improve architecture, engineering practices, automation, and observability.
What you’ll bring
- 4+ years of hands-on development experience with Core Java and Spring frameworks.
- Experience delivering distributed systems and enterprise-grade applications in production.
- Strong knowledge of SQL; experience with Redis and Kafka.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as EKS, EC2, S3, SQS, and SNS.
- Experience with SDLC and tooling including Jira, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development; proficiency using GitHub Copilot to improve productivity and code quality.
Nice to have
- Experience with Python development.
- Familiarity with Airflow, Snowflake, and AWS QuickSight.
- Exposure to financial services, Securities Finance, Prime Services, or trading systems.
