Senior Manager, SW Engineering

About the role

Gigamon is seeking a Senior Manager, SW Engineering to lead the Gigasmart team, responsible for architecting, designing, coding, and testing embedded systems functionality with a focus on innovative high-performance applications in network security technologies. Day-to-day work includes managing resources to deliver commitments on schedule, cultivating a high-performing team, collaborating with peer development, QA, architecture, customer support, and product line management, and contributing to engineering management vision and strategy for continuous integration, improved development processes, and quality and productivity improvements. The role also involves managing major software release deliveries as a release manager, mentoring and coaching a highly technical team, and driving multi-geo projects by working effectively with remote teams. Location: Guindy, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

• Mentor/coach/teach/facilitate and lead change in a highly technical/dynamic team.
• Organize, delegate, and effectively deliver large and complex programs.
• Undertake loosely defined goals or complex problems to create order and drive closure.

What you’ll bring

• 14-18 years (or more) of overall relevant industry experience and a track record of shipping core networking products for the enterprise and service provider markets.
• At least 5 years of experience as a first/second-line manager leading networking software development.
• Direct experience architecting, designing, and developing complex system/infrastructure software for Network Security technologies.
• Background in Software and Security SDLC with exceptional focus on continuous integration, delivery, and quality.
• Strong proficiency in one of the programming languages, preferably C or C++.
• Experience in L2/L3 layer protocols, TCP/IP, UDP, IPv4, IPv6, SSL, DPDK.
• Hands-on experience with multi-core, multi-threading systems.
• BS in CS or EE, MS strongly preferred.
