About the role
As an Abacus Technical Leader at Quest Global, you will work with the Hardware Engineering team to develop advanced simulation frameworks supporting the design and validation of AR/VR devices, haptic systems, and next-generation wearable technologies. Day-to-day, you will define technical direction, lead a team of engineers, architect high-fidelity ABAQUS simulation models, and serve as the technical authority bridging hardware engineering, AI research, and infrastructure teams. This role is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
What you’ll do
- Define and own the long-term technical roadmap for Abacus simulation frameworks across Reality Labs hardware programs
- Establish simulation architecture standards, tooling best practices, and engineering guidelines adopted org-wide
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Engineers across multiple hardware programs
- Architect and oversee development and delivery of high-fidelity Abacus simulation results and models for AR/VR devices, haptic systems, optics, and wearable hardware
- Lead model verification and validation (V&V) strategy and ensure simulation accuracy across all hardware programs
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between simulation engineering and hardware, software, product, and AI teams
- Partner with Infrastructure and HPC teams to scale simulation capacity across organization
- Personally contribute to the most complex, ambiguous, and high-stakes simulation challenges
What you’ll bring
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or related field
- 12+ years of experience in simulation engineering, computational modeling, or related technical roles
- 3+ years of experience leading or mentoring engineering teams in a technical leadership capacity
- Deep expertise in simulation platforms such as ABAQUS or equivalent
- Proven track record of architecting large-scale simulation frameworks used in production hardware development
- Strong proficiency in Python, C++, or equivalent programming languages
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical consensus across large, cross-functional engineering organizations
- Experience with model verification & validation and simulation-to-hardware correlation
Nice to have
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics or related discipline
- Experience leading simulation for consumer electronics, AR/VR, or wearable hardware at scale
- Experience with digital twin platforms and systems-level simulation at enterprise scale
- Track record of influencing without authority across senior engineering and product stakeholders
- Experience scaling simulation engineering teams from startup to production scale
