About the role
Thales Bengaluru engineering competence centre seeks a Technical Lead - Android Platform Developer to design and build system software for the IFEC distributed system. Day-to-day work includes developing and modifying Android framework services and Java on server-side Linux systems, creating proof-of-concepts, and ensuring quality, maintainability, and testability across the software lifecycle. The role is based in Bangalore and follows a hybrid work model.
What you’ll do
- Design, implement, and test the software components that make up the IFEC distributed system
- Create proof-of-concepts as necessary to demonstrate new ideas and technologies
- Develop Android framework services and Java on server-side Linux based systems
- Modify or create services in the Android Platform rather than only calling Framework services
- Ensure quality-focused software delivery with adherence to code maintainability and testability within the software development lifecycle
- Apply scripting knowledge such as bash and Python in addition to Java skills
- Work proactively with the team with a sense of urgency and accountability
- Operate self-driven within sprint commitments in an Agile (Scrum) development cycle
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field from a four-year college or university
- 8+ years of experience in software design and development of Android and/or Linux-based systems following an industrial process
- 8 to 12 years of experience developing System Software using Java/Kotlin in a complex distributed environment
- Specific experience modifying/developing Android framework services, Android NDK, and HMI communications at Android API level 21 or higher
- Proficiency in JAVA within Android Application/Framework and familiarity with open-source technologies
- Experience with Object Oriented Programming concepts, design patterns, and abstraction methodology
- Experience with Linux internals and networking on the Linux platform
- Experience across all phases of the software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, tech design, implementation, code review, testing, and release
