Data Engineer Lead

About the role

MassMutual India is seeking a Data Engineer Lead to join its data engineering and analytics platform team in Hyderabad, India. The role focuses on designing and implementing automated ELT/ETL pipelines, orchestrating workflows with Airflow, and optimizing cloud data stores such as Vertica and RedShift. Day-to-day work includes hands-on Python and SQL development, performance tuning, and driving complex data initiatives independently. This is a full-time position based in Hyderabad.

What you’ll do

• Design and implement automated ELT/ETL pipelines
• Orchestrate data workflows using tools such as Airflow
• Develop and maintain data solutions using Python and SQL
• Optimize and tune SQL performance and troubleshoot issues
• Work with relational, columnar, NoSQL, and cloud data stores including Vertica and RedShift
• Apply Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines in development workflows
• Independently drive complex data initiatives
• Apply strong data modeling and data integrity practices

What you’ll bring

• 8–10+ years of experience in data engineering, data design, and analytics platforms
• 5+ years of hands-on development using Python and SQL
• 4+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• 4+ years of experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow
• Strong experience designing and implementing automated ELT/ETL pipelines
• Experience with relational, columnar, NoSQL, and cloud data stores (e.g., Vertica, RedShift, cloud data warehouses)
• Proven expertise in SQL performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Proficiency with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines
