Senior Java Engineer

About the role

Vonage's Engineering team builds high-performance distributed systems and real-time data processing for global cloud communications. As a Senior Java Engineer, you will build high-throughput, low-latency applications and scalable microservices for the Template Management functionality, writing efficient, well-tested code and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role is based in Bengaluru, India.

What you’ll do

• Build high-throughput, low-latency applications to meet communication use cases
• Create scalable microservices to support growth
• Write efficient and scalable code in well-tested systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality
• Propose scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions
• Estimate effort required to develop and implement new features
• Develop and execute effective testing strategies to ensure software quality and reliability
• Embed AI-assisted engineering into daily practice to accelerate delivery and enhance outcomes

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years hands-on software engineering skills in Java for backend services
• Strong focus on testing with a customer-first mindset
• Experience with multi-threaded architectures, web services, and caching
• Practical experience deploying code using Docker and Kubernetes
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and programming languages
