Playwright - Associate

About the role

Playwright - Associate role within Cognizant's Technology & Engineering department in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The position focuses on developing and maintaining reusable automated test scripts using Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript), designing test plans and automation frameworks for functional regression and integration testing, and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines. Day-to-day work includes collaborating with developers, QA engineers, and product managers, managing defects, performing cross-browser testing, and advocating automation best practices.

What you’ll do

• Create robust, reusable, and maintainable automated test scripts using Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript preferred)
• Design and implement test plans, test cases, and automation frameworks for functional regression and integration testing
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product managers to ensure comprehensive test coverage and timely delivery
• Identify, log, and track software defects and assist in root cause analysis and debugging
• Ensure compatibility across multiple browsers and platforms through cross-browser testing
• Advocate for automation best practices and maintain test documentation

What you’ll bring

• Experience with BDD frameworks like Cucumber
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product managers to ensure comprehensive test coverage and timely delivery
• Identify, log, and track software defects and assist in root cause analysis and debugging
• Ensure compatibility across multiple browsers and platforms through cross-browser testing
• Knowledge of cloud-based test execution platforms (e.g., Sauce Labs, BrowserStack)
