About the role

Senior Manager Global Category-Digital Health and Regulated Tech at Amgen leads global category strategy for software supporting clinical trials, patient engagement, and regulated applications. The role drives category management initiatives, builds enterprise-wide partnerships, and activates procurement resources to achieve cost reductions and top-line performance. Responsibilities include analyzing demand, market data, and spend to develop multi-year category plans, negotiating vendor contracts for e-clinical, ePRO, EDC, and patient-facing apps, and ensuring compliance with FDA, EMA, HIPAA, GDPR, and other regulatory frameworks. The position requires strong analytical, problem‑solving, and leadership skills, familiarity with procurement platforms (Ariba), ERP systems, and advanced analytics tools, and experience managing large cross‑functional teams in a global, matrixed environment. The role also involves governance framework development, cybersecurity, data privacy, and quality system compliance for regulated digital solutions, and collaboration with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Compliance, Legal, and Cybersecurity teams.

What you’ll do

  • Lead category management for Digital Health and regulated technology software supporting clinical trials, patient engagement, and regulated applications.
  • Partner with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment with FDA, EMA, HIPAA, and GDPR standards.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors of e-clinical, ePRO, EDC, and patient-facing apps, balancing innovation with compliance.
  • Build governance frameworks ensuring cybersecurity, data privacy, and quality system compliance for regulated digital solutions.
  • Monitor evolving digital health regulations and integrate compliance into sourcing strategies.
  • Provide strategic oversight as the lead for Digital Health and Regulated Software category and sourcing, ensuring alignment between category strategies and Amgen’s evolving business needs. Act as a trusted advisor to ensure that procurement initiatives are aligned with broader organizational objectives.
  • Guide and facilitate collaboration across cross-functional teams and regional stakeholders, ensuring that procurement strategies meet the diverse needs of the organization and are implemented effectively.
  • Ensure that all Software procurement activities are managed in compliance with regulatory, contractual, and operational risk requirements. Partner with Legal, Compliance, Data Privacy, and Cybersecurity teams to maintain oversight of risk mitigation strategies and ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing peers to oversee the strategic approach to complex negotiations for Software contracts, providing guidance and ensuring that the right processes and frameworks are in place for RFPs, supplier evaluations, and contract development.
  • Maturity to activate procurement resources towards category priorities while managing expectations with stakeholders.

What you’ll bring

  • Doctorate degree and 5 years of Global Strategic Sourcing, Procurement experience
  • Master’s degree and 12 years of Global Strategic Sourcing, Procurement experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and 15 years of Global Strategic Sourcing, Procurement experience
  • Associate’s degree and 17 years of Global Strategic Sourcing, Procurement experience
  • 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

  • Software Global Category Mgmt. with proven record of executive business partnering leading change and enterprise activation of sourcing initiatives driven from expert knowledge of marketplace capabilities
  • Deep understanding of category management principles, supplier relationship management, and contract lifecycle management.
  • Strong financial, legal, and contractual fluency to navigate sales services agreements and deliver business-aligned outcomes.
  • A track record of driving innovation in category strategy development, supplier engagement models, and internal stakeholder partnerships.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex category strategies, influence senior stakeholders, and manage change across functions and regions.
  • Ability to proactively identify underlying business needs and craft strategic solutions across Software landscape.
  • Capable of leveraging spend analytics and benchmarking to inform category strategies and uncover new value opportunities.
  • Understanding of regulatory landscapes with the ability to navigate and manage compliance requirements.
  • Ability to articulate a forward-looking category vision for Software and rally stakeholders around a shared, value-driven agenda.
  • Ability to partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Cybersecurity, and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Experience sourcing digital therapeutics and regulated patient platforms.
  • Strong contractual and regulatory navigation skills for healthcare technology agreements.

Skills
