About the role
Equities Low-Latency Trading Technology team at Citi builds ultra‑low‑latency trading infrastructure for global equities markets. The Senior Software Engineer designs, develops and optimizes Rust and C++ trading systems, leads migration of critical components to Rust, and ensures sub‑microsecond performance through profiling, kernel bypass and lock‑free techniques. Pune, India, on-site role focusing on high‑performance systems engineering.
What you’ll do
- Architect and build ultra‑low‑latency trading systems using Rust and C++
- Lead migration of critical C++ components to Rust ensuring safety and performance
- Profile, optimize and achieve sub‑microsecond latencies
- Design lock‑free, thread‑safe algorithms for high‑throughput trading
- Implement rigorous testing including unit, integration and property‑based tests
- Develop telemetry, monitoring and alerting tools for production systems
- Provide level‑3 support during market hours
- Collaborate with quant researchers, traders and product managers
What you’ll bring
- Expert-level C++ (C++11/14/17/20)
- Strong proficiency in Rust
- Deep knowledge of Linux kernel and low‑latency networking
- Experience with lock‑free, multi‑threaded programming
- Understanding of equities market structure and FIX/OUCH/ITCH protocols
- Proficiency with profiling tools (gdb, perf, VTune)
- Experience with build systems (CMake, Cargo) and CI/CD pipelines
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related field
