Mariner Development Advisor

About the role

The Mariner Development Advisor role sits within Chevron's Engineering and Innovation Excellence Centre (ENGINE) in Bengaluru, India, on the Subsea, Civil and Marine Engineering team. The advisor supports the professional development, performance management, and career progression of mariners by coordinating training, managing feedback loops, facilitating onboarding, and ensuring compliance. The position reports to a Manager, is based in Chevron's Bengaluru office, and follows standard working hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday.

What you’ll do

• Plan operational exposure for mariners from a development perspective
• Monitor and guide mariner career progression, identifying officer development gaps and opportunities
• Provide personnel support, guidance, and coaching on talent profile development
• Conduct feedback and development calls; provide appraisal and PMP feedback to mariners and appraisers
• Facilitate onboarding processes for new and returning mariners
• Track course and training attendance, prioritize and escalate ODP attendance
• Manage OPS 16 documentation and workflows, ensuring alignment with compliance requirements
• Act as liaison between mariners, Fleet Operations, and Fleet Personnel Management

What you’ll bring

• Minimum 3 years in maritime operations, personnel management, or career development roles
• Experience with mariner performance management highly valued
• Ability to plan operational exposure for mariners from a development perspective
• Capability to monitor and guide mariner career progression and identify development gaps
• Skill in conducting feedback and development calls and providing appraisal and PMP feedback
• Experience managing OPS 16 documentation and workflows for compliance
• Ability to administer the IDAMP system and monitor critical competence completion
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills to liaise between mariners, Fleet Operations, and Fleet Personnel Management
