Senior Staff Software Engineer

About the role

Zscaler seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and optimization of firewall and SWG platforms on public cloud infrastructure. Based in Bangalore, this hybrid role reports to the Senior Director of ZIA Core Engineering and drives the technical roadmap for cloud‑native security services. The engineer will build on deep expertise in C/C++ firewall development, AWS networking services, and BSD/Linux operating systems, while integrating native cloud services such as Firewall/IPS, FreeBSD, and OpenSSL. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross‑functional teams, enhancing virtualized platform support, and mentoring team members. Candidates must have 8+ years of networking security software experience, strong AWS knowledge, and proven leadership in a high‑velocity environment.

• Design, develop, optimize firewall/SWG platforms in Cloud Infrastructure
• Execute technical roadmap for firewalls/SWG in Cloud Infrastructure
• Work with engineering teams to enhance platform support for virtualized environments

What you’ll bring

• 8+ yrs networking security software & public cloud infra design
• C/C++ firewall programming experience
• Deep AWS VPC, Subnet, Route Table, SG, NACL, TG, ELB, Route53, Network Firewall knowledge
• FW/SWG integration with native cloud services (Firewall/IPS, FreeBSD, OpenSSL)
• BSD/Linux OS platform development knowledge

Nice to have

• Mastery of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTPs, VPN, NAT, load balancing
• Experience with virtualization technologies
