Lead Project Engineer

About the role

GE seeks a Lead Project Engineer in Chennai to manage technical deliverables for Solar, BESS, and Hybrid Plant Control Systems. The role involves coordinating stakeholders, leading balance of plant engineering, and ensuring project quality and schedule adherence. This full-time position offers relocation assistance.

What you’ll do

• Coordinate with multiple stakeholders on project deliverables, controls software validation, and commissioning support
• Serve as single point of contact for technical issues for customers and project managers
• Lead balance of plant technical aspects including drawings, layouts, and relay protection requirements
• Manage schedule development, design reviews, QA/QC, and contractor management
• Develop customer overview and operational training materials for control systems
• Prepare documentation for installation, commissioning, and operations for internal and external use
• Define processes, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and validate process control
• Coordinate with sourcing and project teams to meet specifications, cost, and schedule objectives

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor/Master degree in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Controls Engineering or Science
• 10+ years experience in detailed engineering, EPC, project execution, and control software design
• Expertise in Solar, Energy storage, Inverter, and BOP plant equipment validation
• Experience leading large-scale engineering projects and site operations
• Knowledge of grid code compliance across various countries
• Familiarity with power generation industries (renewable, thermal, nuclear)
• Understanding of communication networks, hardware, and cyber security
• Proficiency in GE MarkVIe, Toolbox ST, Cimplicity SCADA, P80i, HDM, and Simulink
