About the role

Light & Wonder's digital team leads the global iGaming market, delivering content and software for online gaming providers. As a Java Backend Software Engineer, you will design and build scalable backend services and APIs, optimize performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. The role is based in ITPL, Whitefield, Bengaluru and follows a hybrid work model.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot
  • Build scalable, reliable, and secure microservices
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices
  • Collaborate closely with Product, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver features end-to-end
  • Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and technical brainstorming
  • Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to continuous improvements
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines, automation, and observability best practices

What you’ll bring

  • 3-5 years of experience in backend development
  • BE/B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or MCA (Computer Science/Application)
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java 8+, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and multithreading
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and CI/CD tools
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented principles
  • Good problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with message queues like Kafka, RabbitMQ
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • Familiarity with API gateways and service discovery
  • Understanding of caching technologies (Redis, Hazelcast)
  • Exposure to performance and load testing
