Senior Software Developer

About the role

Vendasta is assembling a world-class AI team in Chennai, India, seeking a Senior Software Developer to help build the backbone of an AI-first future. You will provide technical leadership, champion AI-aligned work, and develop scalable software using Google Cloud, Langchain, MCP, TypeScript, GoLang, Python, and Kubernetes. The role involves mentoring team members, driving AI literacy, and collaborating within a Scrum Agile methodology supported by SRE, with flex time and annual work-from-anywhere options.

What you’ll do

• Provide technical leadership and direction to your team; act as the go-to resource for system design, scalability, and code quality
• Champion AI-aligned work—proactively identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, and responsible AI use
• Develop and maintain scalable, maintainable, and testable software using Vendasta's technology stack
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate strategic goals into actionable and executable backlogs, including AI-enhanced solutions
• Participate in team sprint planning, offering technical insights and ensuring clear, feasible delivery of work
• Mentor and coach team members on traditional and AI-enhanced programming practices
• Document long-term technical vision for services owned by the team, ensuring continuity, clarity, and scalability
• Lead incident response readiness by ensuring team confidence and capability in emergency scenarios

What you’ll bring

• 8+ years of software development experience, preferably within SaaS or technology environments
• Proven track record of leading technical teams and delivering complex software solutions
• Deep knowledge of software design patterns, scalable architecture, and cloud-native systems
• Ability to drive AI adoption through hands-on implementation of AI-enhanced workflows, frameworks, or APIs
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Passion for mentoring and growing technical talent within a team
• Demonstrated experience working with the Scrum framework and modern development methodologies
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred)
