Senior Designer - Piping

About the role

KENTZ is seeking a Senior Designer - Piping to join its Piping - Design & Drafting function, based in the Mumbai or Vadodara office in India. The role focuses on delivering piping design for Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, or Chemical projects, primarily with large EPC companies or engineering consulting organizations. Day-to-day work includes developing and checking piping drawings, equipment and piping layouts, pipe supports, and isometrics; performing 2D/3D piping studies from equipment layouts and P&IDs; leading and supervising a design team; presenting 3D model reviews internally and to clients; conducting site visits for design input and construction/fabrication support; and coordinating across disciplines and vendors. The position requires 15+ years of relevant piping design experience and strong verbal and written English communication.

What you’ll do

• Develop optimum details and check drawings, equipment layout, piping layout, pipe support, and isometrics
• Perform piping studies in 2D/3D environment based on equipment layouts and P&IDs
• Lead and supervise a team of designers and assist the LD in monitoring design developments and updates
• Present 3D model reviews internally and to clients with technical back-up and attend design reviews
• Conduct site visits to gather inputs, support design, and provide site support for fabrication and construction
• Perform design reviews with the lead designer, coordinate across disciplines, and review vendor drawings and comments
• Maintain design change log and assist LE/LD in raising change management
• Troubleshoot issues and guide junior designers, and work as an area lead when required

What you’ll bring

• Diploma in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering OR ITI in Mechanical Drafting
• 15+ years of relevant piping design experience
• Proficiency in E3D
• Experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, or Chemical sector with large EPC companies or engineering consulting organizations
• Effective verbal and written English communication
• Ability to lead and supervise a team of designers
• Knowledge of global design standards and statutory codes and standards
• Flexibility to adapt to any 3D design software
