Technology Risk & Controls Transformation Specialist

About the role

WPP’s central assurance team seeks a Technology Risk & Controls Transformation Specialist to support large-scale ERP transformations in Chennai. The role embeds SDLC controls, drives SOX compliance, and coaches project teams on audit readiness. This hybrid position requires four days of weekly office attendance.

What you’ll do

• Govern and evaluate all phases of the SDLC, reviewing documentation and testing evidence
• Develop and manage comprehensive evidence checklists and trackers for audit readiness
• Mentor project teams to generate credible, high-quality evidence packages
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define and embed stringent control expectations
• Generate reports detailing control posture, emerging risks, and remediation progress
• Champion first-line accountability for control execution and documentation quality
• Validate first-line assurance rationale and focus efforts on highest-risk areas
• Facilitate preparation for internal and external audit engagements

What you’ll bring

• Strong understanding of application control environments
• Solid grasp of SDLC principles in complex projects
• Experience in IT audit, risk management, security, or compliance
• Exceptional documentation and communication skills
• Ability to operate in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments

Nice to have

• Experience working with external auditors on SOX compliance within large-scale transformation programmes
• Prior exposure to data migration assurance and reconciliation processes
• Professional certifications (e.g., CISA, CIA, CRISC) are advantageous
