Principal Lead Design Engineering

About the role

Ameriprise India LLP seeks a Principal Lead Design Engineering to drive cloud platform strategy and architecture within the AWMPO AWMP&S President's Office. This hybrid role in Hyderabad involves defining scalable cloud solutions, leading DevSecOps modernization, and ensuring governance while mentoring engineering teams. The position requires 12+ years of experience with significant leadership in cloud or platform engineering.

What you’ll do

• Define strategic roadmap for cloud engineering platforms and services
• Design scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available cloud architectures
• Lead development of self-service engineering platforms and IaC initiatives
• Drive CI/CD modernization and DevSecOps adoption across teams
• Establish enterprise monitoring, logging, and observability strategies
• Ensure cloud platforms adhere to security, regulatory, and compliance requirements
• Coordinate and review work of other engineers on the team
• Lead root cause analysis and resolution of critical platform incidents

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field
• 12+ years of technology experience
• 5+ years in Cloud, Platform Engineering, or DevSecOps leadership
• Deep expertise in Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
• Hands-on Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, etc.)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices

Nice to have

• Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS/GCP Solutions Architect)
• Experience with GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and container platforms
• Experience with FinOps and cloud cost optimization
