About the role

Caterpillar's Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) is seeking a Design Engineer to lead Product Health initiatives for the Gas 3500 Engine Platform in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The role drives resolution of Virtual Design Review and Audit (VDRA) issues, manages Order Monitoring, and implements Green Sheets and Shop Changes supporting NSI, CPI, and NPI programs. The engineer owns end-to-end product health concerns, coordinates design changes, updates pricing, and collaborates with component Design Control teams and global suppliers. This full-time position requires five working days per week onsite in the office.

What you’ll do

  • Lead Product Health initiatives for the Gas 3500 Engine Platform
  • Drive resolution of Virtual Design Review and Audit (VDRA) issues
  • Manage Order Monitoring activities
  • Implement Green Sheets and Shop Changes in support of NSI, CPI, and NPI programs
  • Provide end-to-end ownership of product health concerns from identifying interim corrective actions to executing permanent corrective solutions
  • Coordinate design changes and update Pricing Arrangements and Price Lists
  • Collaborate with component Design Control teams to ensure products deliver superior quality, reliability, and performance
  • Work closely with NPI leads, product group teams, manufacturing, and key strategic suppliers to develop and implement component and system-level solutions

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of VDRA resolution, Green sheet and Shop change order update, ARC creation experience
  • Good functional knowledge on Engine platform & subsystems
  • Ability to perform complex assignments with strong analytical skills and good interpersonal & global collaboration skills
  • Project management and knowledge on NPI, NTI & CPI process with excellent communications skills
  • Self-starter with good multitasking skills to optimize and deliver results under challenging quality, cost, and timeline requirements
  • Willingness to travel globally as per project requirements
