About the role
Smart Power Division – R&D Competence Center at ABB focuses on delivering advanced energy distribution solutions. The Facility Specialist ensures safe, efficient operation of labs and research facilities by managing HVAC, power systems, UPS, solar installations, and building infrastructure, while overseeing preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and energy efficiency initiatives. Hyderabad, India, on-site role with responsibility for budgets, contractor coordination, and facility expansion projects.
What you’ll do
- Manage daily operations of DG sets, UPS, solar installations, compressors, LT panels, switchgear, transformers, chillers, HVAC, BMS, LMS, AHUs, and security systems
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and maintain detailed documentation
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized maintenance and repairs
- Manage facility budgets and control operational costs
- Maintain inventory of spare parts, equipment, and supplies
- Respond to emergency situations and coordinate urgent repairs
- Monitor and optimize energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management or Engineering
- 7-10 years facility management experience, preferably R&D or laboratory
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems
- Experience planning and executing preventive maintenance
- Proficiency with facility management software
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
- Excellent communication and team coordination
- Knowledge of energy management and sustainability practices
