About the role

Principal Engineer - System Programmer & Database Engineer at Unisys in Bangalore, KA, India. The role leads the design and development of significant, technically challenging efforts across major program and product areas, defining architectural standards, tools, and methodologies for technical consistency and quality. Day-to-day work includes building and troubleshooting in a Windows environment using C# and .NET for the networking domain, collaborating with senior development and functional teams, and supporting governance, training, and intellectual property efforts.

What you’ll do

• Leverages subject matter expertise to lead in the design and development of significant and technically challenging efforts across major program / product areas
• Defines architectural standards, tools and methodologies to ensure technical consistency and quality across the company’s functional applications
• Identifies, adapts and applies new technologies that can help improve systems overall
• Collaborates with senior members of development / functional departments across the company to share experiences and knowledge and to identify ways to simplify and integrate products
• Works with management on the development of Software Engineering governance / performance management processes
• Helps define, develop and deliver training and education for systems users, Software Engineering colleagues, allied groups and other stakeholders
• Identifies proprietary intellectual property and recommends patent applications

What you’ll bring

• BA/BS degree and 8+ years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Solid technical knowledge in C# programming and .NET for the networking domain
• Good working knowledge of building, debugging, and troubleshooting on a Windows environment
• Experience with Data Integration Technologies, Data Conversions, Data ETL, Data Integration, Data Lake, Data Loading, Data Mapping, Data Migrations, Data Transformation, and Data Warehousing (DW)
• Experience with Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW), ETL Processing, and ETL Tools
• Experience with Configuration Management and Jira
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, Jenkins, TDD, and Clean Coding
• Experience with Network Security Technologies

Nice to have

• Master’s degree preferred
• Experience in Unisys Clear Path MCP/OS 2200 systems is an added advantage
• Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes are an added advantage
• Oracle, Kafka, and Elastic Search are added advantage for databases
• Experience with Algol, Cobol, and Unisys Clear Path MCP/OS 2200 systems is an added advantage
• Experience with C and C++ programming languages
• Experience with Python programming language
• Experience with SQL Server
