About the role

HSBC’s Fixed Income Algo team seeks a Lead Java Developer to deliver new pricing functionality, market connectivity, and workflows across multiple regions. The role involves full-stack architecture, design, and development of high-performance JVM systems while mentoring engineers and partnering with trading stakeholders. This position is based in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver new pricing functionality, market connectivity, and workflows
  • Participate in front to back architecture, design, and development activities
  • Partner with trading, quant, and product stakeholders to improve strategies
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance
  • Contribute to UI capabilities for automated trading workflows
  • Expand testing/back testing capability to ensure lower defect rates
  • Integrate with existing Fixed Income electronic trading platform
  • Conduct research on technology and business process best practices

What you’ll bring

  • Strong Java/Scala server-side development experience
  • Proven skills in multi-threaded development
  • Experience designing high performance / low latency systems
  • Ability to implement reusable object-oriented or functional designs
  • Hands-on experience with e-Trading protocols like FIX and SBE
  • Track record of agile delivery of business requirements
  • Full ownership of mission critical production systems
  • Knowledge of fixed income market mechanics

Nice to have

  • Experience implementing global, distributed systems in a mission critical/trading environment
  • Experience with web-based (HTML5) front end technologies
  • Experience with BDD/TDD
  • Operation of trading desks in a large Investment Bank or Hedge Fund
