About the role
Engineer Controls Engineering role based in Pallavaram, focused on DCS/SAS engineering, system integration, and project execution for substation automation solutions. Day-to-day work includes studying customer and contract requirements, preparing DCS design concepts and deliverables, coordinating with stakeholders, integrating IEDs across communication protocols, configuring and troubleshooting SAS databases, supporting FAT and commissioning, and managing technical interfaces with subcontractors and suppliers. The position requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
What you’ll do
- Study technical specifications, contract requirements, customer inputs, and project documents
- Prepare DCS design concepts, design strategy, list of deliverables, and bill of quantity/budget man-hours
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans based on product scope and tender documents
- Finalize IEDs, bought-out materials, and raise purchase requisitions to meet delivery schedules
- Prepare and validate technical design documents, engineering drawings, and substation IO lists with cost-effective and quality-focused solutions
- Attend customer technical meetings to secure document approvals and respond to observations/comments
- Integrate IEDs with various communication protocols; configure, test, validate, and troubleshoot SAS databases
- Coordinate with FAT teams for internal validation and participate in customer FAT as required
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years of experience in DCS/SAS engineering, system integration, and project execution
- Relevant field experience in SAS Engineering/Commissioning
- Ability to independently handle project engineering, customer discussions, testing, validation, and SAS troubleshooting
- Broad knowledge of Substation Automation System Engineering and communication protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, IEC104)
- Knowledge of network concepts and configuration, database configuration, and multiple OEM IED integration
- Basic knowledge of engineering process, protection, and commissioning of SAS systems, including India region utility/industry practices and standards
- Ability to troubleshoot DCS/network issues using relevant tools

- Troubleshooting experience in SCADA and DSA
- Process bus based Digital Substation knowledge
