About the role

Welo Data is seeking experienced linguists to support a synthetic data generation program for a leading technology client. As a Translation Validator, you will independently review English source documents alongside two machine-generated Odia translations, select the preferred variant, and provide written justifications in a blind, three-validator process. This is a fully remote, freelance contract role based in India with a 2-week commitment and a pay rate of $3.80/hour.

What you’ll do

Review English source documents alongside two machine-generated Odia translations
Evaluate both variants based on accuracy, fluency, and overall translation quality
Select the preferred translation and provide a clear written justification for your assessment
Complete assigned samples independently and within established timelines

What you’ll bring

Native-level fluency in Odia (written and spoken)
Strong written communication skills in the target language
Proficiency in English
Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and consistency
Adherence to project and client guidelines

Nice to have

Background in linguistics, translation, or language quality assessment
Familiarity with Romanized script conventions for the relevant language (for transliteration tasks)
