About the role
Lead Software Engineer (UI Engineer) at Cadence Design Systems focuses on enhancing Orion’s UI for drug discovery. Collaborates with designers, scientists, and engineers to build scientific visualization, collaboration, and data management features. Drives modernization of existing software, implements cutting‑edge UI components, and ensures high‑quality code through testing, CI/CD, and code reviews. Requires deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, HTML, Vue, Nuxt.js/Next.js, and knowledge of Life Sciences, HPC, Python, AWS, Web Workers, WebAssembly, WebGL. 5+ years of UI development experience, strong CS fundamentals, and passion for learning new technologies.
What you’ll do
- Enhance and extend Orion UI capabilities with designers, scientists, engineers
- Develop features across scientific visualization, collaboration, data management
- Modernize existing software and build cutting-edge features
- Collaborate across time zones with peers in development, science, design, customer success
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in CS/engineering, biology/chemistry or similar
- 5+ years designing, developing, debugging complex UIs and software systems
- Expert in JavaScript/TypeScript/CSS/HTML
- Experience with Vue, Pinia/VueX, Nuxt.js/Next.js frameworks
- Knowledge of Life Sciences, HPC, Python, AWS, Web Workers, WebAssembly, WebGL
- Unit & end-to-end testing, CI/CD, source control, code review, CLI proficiency
- Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms
- Passionate learner, strong analysis and problem-solving skills
