About the role

Okta’s Identity Management Engineering (IDM) team seeks a Staff Software Engineer in Test to secure AI and human identity infrastructure. Based in Bengaluru, India, this hybrid role involves leading quality initiatives, mentoring SETs, and designing automated tests for large-scale backend solutions. The position focuses on ensuring high availability and reliability through robust automation strategies.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and mentor a team of SETs, driving quality initiatives and professional growth
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated tests for APIs, end-to-end workflows, scalability, and reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review requirements and define test strategies
  • Leverage Generative AI tools to enhance productivity and accelerate test development
  • Conduct code reviews, identify defects, and build tools to strengthen test coverage
  • Partner with engineering management to plan and deliver high-impact projects
  • Participate in on-call rotations to address production and customer issues
  • Champion a quality-first culture and advocate for continuous improvement

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering or related field
  • 10–15 years of experience as a Software Engineer in Test
  • Proven expertise in quality engineering for enterprise-grade systems
  • Strong hands-on experience in Java-based test automation
  • Proficiency with Selenium, Rest Assured, Karate, Postman, JMeter, Splunk, and AWS

Nice to have

  • Experience within enterprise SaaS or product-based companies
  • Experience with distributed systems and CI/CD pipelines
