Staff Engineer, AI and Search

About the role

Yieldmo is an advertising platform building a general-purpose, AI-powered search engine to redefine content discovery across major publishers. As a Staff Engineer, AI & Search, you will design, build, and operate core components such as retrieval, ranking, indexing, ingestion, or ML infrastructure, writing production code and owning systems from prototype through scale. You will partner with Product, ML, and Engineering teams to integrate LLMs, embeddings, vector search, and RAG, while mentoring peers and influencing architecture. The role is based in India and is part of a fully distributed team.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and operate core components of Yieldmo’s AI-driven search engine — retrieval, ranking, indexing, ingestion, or ML infrastructure.
• Write production code, iterate quickly, and own systems from prototype through scale.
• Partner with Product, ML, and Engineering teams to integrate modern retrieval, ranking, and recommendation technologies.
• Contribute to the technical direction of the search platform and influence architectural decisions.
• Build and operate large-scale data and content ingestion pipelines that feed the search system.
• Drive quality, performance, relevance, and reliability bars for owned features and services.
• Mentor peers and, for more senior candidates, grow into tech-lead responsibilities as the team scales.

What you’ll bring

• Based in India.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and production experience building and operating backend systems at scale.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; comfort with Docker and microservices architectures.
• Working familiarity with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and function/tool calling.
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Hands-on, ownership-oriented mindset with a focus on shipping.
• Go deep in at least one of the three specialty tracks: ML-leaning, Data/ingestion-leaning, or Search-leaning.
