About the role
Applied Materials seeks an Engineering Change (EC) Engineer - Mechanical in Bangalore, India to manage the Engineering Change Request/Order process for assigned product families. Day-to-day work includes reviewing ECOs for completeness and impact, coordinating with cross-functional teams, analyzing part structures, determining root causes, and training ECO participants. The role requires a B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial and 5 to 8 years of experience.
What you’ll do
- Interface with other engineering functions to coordinate release of product improvements and new products
- Launch, release, approve, and implement engineering change requests to support design engineering and operations
- Review ECOs for content completeness, BOM structure, customer/organizational/functional impact
- Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and recommend tooling and process requirements using DFx principles
- Gather operational and test data, evaluate results, and take corrective or continuous improvement actions
- Determine root cause and corrective actions for assembly/test issues and provide failure analysis reports
- Determine ECR/ECO effects on products and processes, route ECOs, and ensure appropriate CIB members are included
- Analyze part structure for change scope/impact, conduct where-used searches, and mediate conflicts between ECO participants
What you’ll bring
- B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial engineering
- 5 to 8 years of relevant experience
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and UGNX (must-have)
- Knowledge of PLM/PDM systems such as Team Center, Wind chill, and SAP
- Knowledge of ECR/ECO processes, forms, instructions, and policies
- In-depth knowledge of supplier manufacturing processes
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, and basic lean principles
- Demonstrated ability to write and track ECRs/ECOs
