Database Administrator / Database Engineer

About the role

The Teleforce team seeks a Database Administrator/Engineer to own and manage data infrastructure across PostgreSQL, MySQL, ClickHouse, and Elasticsearch in Gurgaon. This role involves ensuring high availability, performance tuning, and managing replication architectures for mission-critical databases. The position is full-time and based on-site in Gurgaon, India.

What you’ll do

• Install, configure, administer, monitor, and upgrade production databases.
• Design and optimize schemas, indexing strategies, and execution plans for performance.
• Tune query performance, buffer/cache settings, and connection pooling for high-QPS workloads.
• Implement table partitioning, data archiving, and backup/disaster recovery strategies.
• Manage ClickHouse clusters and Elasticsearch clusters under heavy load.
• Monitor database health, handle capacity planning, and forecast storage needs.
• Administer cloud database services on AWS and Azure, including provisioning and scaling.
• Enforce database security through access control, encryption, and audit logging.

What you’ll bring

• 4–6 years of hands-on experience as a DBA/Database Engineer in production environments.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL and MySQL installation, configuration, upgrades, and administration.
• Ability to write and optimize complex queries and design scalable schemas.
• Proven performance tuning experience including query, buffer/cache, and connection-level optimization.
• Hands-on experience with partitioning, archiving strategies, and ETL/data migration.
• Experience managing reader/writer split architectures with high throughput.
• Working knowledge of ClickHouse cluster setup and Elasticsearch cluster management.
• Proficiency in Linux administration, shell scripting, and Python scripting.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS RDS/Aurora or Azure managed database services.
• Monitoring database health using Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK/EFK stacks.
• Strong understanding of connection management and pooling tools like PgBouncer and ProxySQL.
• Demonstrated production troubleshooting ability for large-scale datasets.
