About the role

GE Vernova's FACTS Solution Line team in Noida, India, develops reactive power compensators such as STATCOM and SVC to control power system voltage and improve transmission efficiency. As a Lead Engineer 2 - Electrical Component, you will prepare and review MV equipment technical specifications, datasheets, and purchase requisitions, conduct vendor evaluation and technical bid analysis, and produce layout and section drawings using REVIT and AutoCAD. You will also handle equipment sizing, electrical clearances, insulation coordination, and site pre-commissioning support across international high-profile FACTS/HVDC projects. The role is based in Noida with hybrid work flexibility and relocation assistance provided.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare and review MV equipment technical specifications, datasheets, and purchase requisitions
  • Conduct vendor offer evaluation, technical bid analysis, and approve vendor drawings/documents
  • Perform layout and section drawings, equipment sizing, switchyard electrical equipment specifications, GA drawings, STATCOM yard and valve room layout preparation, cooling system arrangement, and inte
  • Support site pre-commissioning work including FAT and manufacturing clearance
  • Handle electrical clearances, insulation coordination, short circuit forces, thermal limits, earthing & lightning protection design, and busbar sizing
  • Generate ITO (tender) drawings, BOQ estimation, RFQ finalization & evaluation, and select equipment with best pricing options
  • Coordinate with primary electrical design, civil & structural, control & protection, installation & commissioning, automation, and MEP teams to ensure alignment between electrical schematics and physi
  • Manage interfaces with grid/substation infrastructure and coordinate site & office teams for project execution

What you’ll bring

  • 8–12 years of relevant experience in Substation/FACTS/HVDC projects
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience specifically in STATCOM/FACTS/HVDC projects
  • BTech/MTech degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably in Power System
  • Deep technical expertise on MV switchgear, power transformers, reactors, capacitors, busbars, and cables
  • Ability to prepare equipment technical specifications, datasheets, and purchase requisitions
  • Vendor evaluation, technical bid analysis, and vendor drawings/documents approval
  • Strong knowledge of MV systems, substation design, FACTS/STATCOM configurations, IGBT valve configuration, valve cooling systems, and interface/system integration
  • Strong prioritizing and time management skills

Nice to have

  • Experience of working in 1–2 STATCOM/HVDC projects
  • Experience in utility scale grid integration and EHV substations
  • Expertise on layout preparation and BOQ generation using REVIT for STATCOM yard MV bays
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and 3D tools (e.g., Revit)
  • Strong understanding of FACTS and Power Electronics applications
  • Deep knowledge of IEC/IEEE/CIGRE standards related to harmonics and insulation coordination
  • Strong cross-functional coordination skill
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
