About the role
Applied Materials seeks an EC Engineering (Manufacturing Engineer) in Bangalore, India, to lead the Engineering Change Request/Order process for assigned product families. Day-to-day work includes reviewing ECOs for completeness and impact, coordinating with cross-functional teams, estimating manufacturing costs, applying DFx and lean principles, and mediating conflicts to ensure cost-effective change implementation. The role requires a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering and 5 to 8 years of experience.
What you’ll do
- Interfaces with other engineering functions to coordinate release of product improvements and/or new products
- Launches, releases, approves, and implements engineering change requests to support design engineering and Operations
- Reviews ECOs for content completeness, BOM structure, customer impact, organizational impact, and functional product impact
- Estimates manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and recommends tooling and process requirements using DFx principles
- Gathers operational and test data, evaluates results, and takes corrective or continuous improvement actions
- Determines root cause and corrective action for assembly/test issues and provides failure analysis reports
- Determines ECR/ECO effects on products and processes, routes ECOs, and ensures appropriate CIB members are included
- Trains and coaches ECO participants, mediates conflicts, and evaluates the ECO process for continuous improvement
What you’ll bring
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
- 5 to 8 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of ECR/ECO processes, forms, instructions, and policies
- Knowledge of PLM DB (Team Center Engineering) and PDM (SAP)
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and UGNX
- In-depth knowledge of supplier manufacturing processes
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing methods and materials, including basic lean philosophy and principles
- Knowledge of cross-functional team collaboration and communication
