Lead Software Engineer

About the role

Evolent Health International (Pune, India) seeks a Lead Software Engineer to build scalable, secure, high-performance healthcare applications. Day-to-day work includes designing and maintaining enterprise applications with ASP.NET MVC, .NET Core, C#, and SQL Server, leading the full SDLC, architecting solutions with design patterns, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with product owners and QA. The role requires 6–8 years of software development experience and involves contributing to cloud-native modernization and production stability.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using ASP.NET MVC, Web forms, .NET Core, C#, and SQL Server
• Lead end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC) including design, development, testing, and production support
• Architect scalable and secure solutions by applying design patterns and principles
• Provide technical leadership, conduct design/code reviews, and ensure adherence to coding standards
• Collaborate with product owners, QA, and other stakeholders to design and deliver high-quality features
• Drive performance optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
• Contribute to modernization initiatives including migration to cloud-native or microservices-based architectures
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture

What you’ll bring

• 6–8 years of experience in software development
• Strong hands-on experience with ASP.NET / .NET Core, C#, and SQL Server
• Experience with Azure resources (functions, storage, Key Vault, App Config, App Insights)
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and design patterns & principles (SOLID, etc.)
• Experience building scalable web applications and APIs
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment
• Experience with code reviews, CI/CD, and version control systems (Git)
• High-speed broadband internet (minimum 50 Mbps) with ability to set up a wired home connection

Nice to have

• Experience in application modernization / legacy transformation
• Exposure to microservices architecture, cloud (Azure), or distributed systems
• Knowledge of healthcare domain / EMR / payer systems
• Experience with performance tuning and security practices
