Senior Principal Engineer, Data Engineering

About the role

Marsh Risk Tech team builds enterprise‑grade data platforms to enable analytics and advanced data initiatives. The Senior Principal Engineer designs and implements scalable Databricks Lakehouse pipelines, develops Delta Lake solutions, and drives data quality and governance practices. Based in Pune or Gurugram, this hybrid role requires at least three days onsite per week.

What you’ll do

• Design and implement scalable Databricks Lakehouse pipelines
• Build and maintain Delta Lake tables and Medallion layers
• Develop ingestion, transformation, and consumption pipelines
• Create business‑ready Gold layer datasets for reporting
• Implement CDC, merge, and upsert patterns
• Optimize Spark jobs and query performance
• Write complex SQL queries and stored procedures
• Support data governance, lineage, and CI/CD automation

What you’ll bring

• Strong hands‑on experience with Databricks and Spark
• Expertise in PySpark and SQL
• Experience with Delta Lake and Medallion Architecture
• Designing scalable data pipelines
• Data quality, lineage, and governance knowledge
• Cloud experience (AWS preferred)
• Familiarity with Informatica
