Senior Design and Project Coordinator

About the role

AECOM seeks a Senior Design & Project Coordinator to serve as the PMC lead for design management, engineering coordination, and technical integration across an airport development programme. The role coordinates multidisciplinary design consultants, review teams, contractors, and package managers to ensure timely delivery of design deliverables, prioritization of construction-driven GFC drawings, resolution of engineering interfaces, and incorporation of site, statutory, operational, and constructability considerations. Based in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, this is an on-site, full-time position reporting to the Project Director/Project Head.

What you’ll do

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design activities across terminal, airside, landside, utility, and airport support facility packages
• Establish, maintain, and monitor the Design Deliverables Register, Design Approval Tracker, Design Interface Matrix, and Design Risk Register
• Coordinate with Design Consultants and Review Teams to ensure timely submission, review, and approval of design deliverables
• Prioritize and monitor delivery of GFC drawings in line with construction priorities and programme requirements
• Manage interfaces between architecture, structural, civil, MEP, utility, airport systems, airside, and landside disciplines
• Act as the primary technical liaison between construction teams and design consultants, reviewing contractor submittals and coordinating resolution of RFIs and technical clarifications
• Ensure compliance with DGCA, ICAO, BCAS, AAI, NBC, BIS, environmental, and other applicable statutory requirements
• Monitor design progress against project schedules, maintain design dashboards and action trackers, and prepare executive reports and technical updates for Project Leadership and Client reviews

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline
• Overall 15-20 years of professional experience in design management, engineering coordination, and delivery of major infrastructure projects
• Minimum 10 years of experience in aviation projects involving airport terminal buildings, airside works, landside infrastructure, utilities, and airport support facilities
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design consultants and engineering teams on large, complex infrastructure projects
• Experience in PMC, EPC, Design Management Consultant, or Client-side project management environments
• Demonstrated experience in design coordination, constructability reviews, engineering integration, and resolution of design issues during project execution
• Strong knowledge of DGCA, ICAO, BCAS, AAI, NBC, BIS, and other applicable aviation and infrastructure regulations
• Proficiency in BIM-based coordination, digital design management systems, document management platforms, and project analytics tools

Nice to have

• Master's Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field
• Experience in brownfield airport developments and integration with existing infrastructure and operational systems
• Experience reviewing construction methodologies, contractor designs, material submittals, and technical proposals for major infrastructure projects
• Experience in at least one Greenfield or Brownfield airport project of minimum 10 MPPA capacity involving terminal, airside, or major airport infrastructure works
