Senior Principal Engineer - SoC/Chip Lead

About the role

Renesas seeks a Senior Principal Engineer to lead complex SoC programs from architecture through silicon production in Bengaluru. This role involves driving technical strategy, managing cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful tape-out execution for advanced-node chips. The position is full-time with a remote work model.

What you’ll do

• Own end-to-end technical leadership and execution of complex SoC programs
• Drive SoC planning, integration strategy, execution schedules, and tape-out readiness
• Lead cross-functional teams across digital design, verification, physical design, and firmware
• Define chip-level architecture, integration requirements, and performance targets
• Oversee subsystem and IP integration for complex multi-domain SoCs
• Partner with analog and SerDes teams to integrate high-speed interfaces
• Lead design reviews, silicon readiness assessments, and post-silicon debug activities
• Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership across engineering organizations

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• 20+ years of semiconductor industry experience with leadership responsibility
• Proven success as Chip Lead or Technical Program Lead for large-scale ASIC/SoC products
• Demonstrated success leading advanced-node SoCs (3nm/5nm preferred)
• Deep understanding of SoC architecture, integration methodologies, and full-chip development flows

Nice to have

• Experience with high-performance switching silicon and Network-on-Chip architectures
• Hands-on experience integrating high-speed SerDes interfaces and mixed-signal IPs
• Knowledge of packaging technologies and signal integrity for high-speed systems
• Prior exposure to UALink, Ethernet switching, or similar interconnect technologies
