PAT Buyer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a PAT – Buyer to join its purchasing team in Bangalore, India, supporting the materials group that owns supplier operational aspects for tools used worldwide. Day-to-day, the role manages supplier operations (forecasts, POs, FGIs, ECOs, obsolete items, MRP actions, transitions, repairs, service agreements, OTD), coordinates purchasing with planning and engineering to maintain inventory, leads supplier quality activities with manufacturing and engineering, expedites escalations, practices management without authority, resolves material-related accounting and receiving issues, and provides management input on supplier and material status. The position is full-time with 10% travel and relocation eligibility.

What you’ll do

• Manage supplier operations including forecasts, POs, FGIs, ECOs, obsolete items, MRP actions, transitions, repairs, service agreements, and OTD
• Coordinate and drive purchasing activities with planning and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels
• Lead supplier quality activities in collaboration with manufacturing and engineering departments
• Expedite escalations to ensure timely receipt of materials
• Practice management without authority
• Lead problem resolution for material-related accounting and receiving issues
• Provide input to management regarding suppliers and material status, action plans, and address long-term issues

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant field (Engineering mandatory)
• More than 6 years of experience in Purchasing
• SAP MM expertise
• Knowledge of working with OFFICE systems (especially Excel)
• Ability to work and deal with many information systems
• High level English (writing, speaking and reading)
• Service-oriented with experience working with suppliers and internal customers
• Independent, team player with high negotiation skills
