Transaction Management Officer
About the role
The Officer – Transaction Management role within State Street's Middle Office / Transaction Management department oversees critical activities across Trade Settlements, Trade Confirmation, and Static Data Maintenance. The Officer acts as a subject matter expert and first formal leadership layer, providing oversight to associates, managing settlement risk and exceptions, governing static data, and driving process improvement and client service excellence across global markets. Based in Mumbai, India, this full-time position requires deep operational expertise, strong risk awareness, and stakeholder management capability.
What you’ll do
- Oversee daily settlement processing across global markets for Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Money Market, and Derivatives products
- Monitor settlement efficiency and proactively manage high-risk or aged settlement exposures
- Review and approve critical settlement exceptions and escalation decisions
- Lead investigations of complex settlement failures and client-impacting issues
- Coordinate with brokers, custodians, counterparties, and trading desks to resolve settlement breaks
- Oversee confirmation and matching activities across electronic and manual confirmation channels
- Manage escalations relating to unmatched trades, allocation discrepancies, and affirmation delays
- Oversee maintenance and governance of standing settlement instructions, counterparty setup, broker database, custodian information, and market static data
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related discipline
- Typically 10 to 15 years of experience in Trade Settlements, Trade Confirmation, Static Data Maintenance, Asset Servicing, Custody Operations, Middle Office Operations, or Investment Operations
- Demonstrated experience handling complex client escalations and operational risk events
- Trade lifecycle expertise across Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Money Markets, and Derivatives
- Settlement risk management and exception management capabilities
- Static data governance and maintenance experience (SSI, counterparty setup, broker database, custodian information)
- Operational controls and regulatory awareness
- Market infrastructure knowledge including CSDs, SWIFT, and global custodian operating models
Nice to have
- Master's degree or MBA
- Experience working within global operating models across APAC, EMEA, and North America
- Experience with CTM, ALERT, Trade Suite, Bloomberg, Aladdin, Charles River, GTM Platforms, and Custody Platforms
- Power BI and Advanced Excel proficiency
- Experience with CLS Settlement and trade matching utilities
- Knowledge of Mutual Funds and Alternative Investments products
- Leadership competencies including stakeholder management, coaching and mentoring, and change leadership
- Lean and Six Sigma operational excellence initiative experience
